The E-week ‘Aahwahan – 09’ by Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Greater Noida started with a great pomp and show “RIDE GREEN“. Nearly 70 bicycle riders started from their cycles in the morning covering a distance of about 6 kilometres around Noida Stadium. The purpose of the event was to promote its theme ‘Go Green‘ to revive the tradition of using non-fuel vehicles and creating awareness about the deteriorating climate of our world.
This seven day all-India event was inaugurated by Dr Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Mr N P Singh, President- RWA, Noida, Mr Jameel Ahmad, Dy. Secretary, Noida, Mr. Vijay Bhati, RWA Treasurer.

Later, while flagging off the rally, Dr. H Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, highlighted the importance of such events. “A lot of hue and cry is happening all over the world regarding protection of climate and earth. But we cannot create a substantial difference, till the common man becomes a part of this noble mission. Today’s rally should be seen as a step to bring more people into action”, said Dr. Chaturvedi. The rally got over in afternoon with a slow bi-cycle race, where the students, most of whom have not even touched the cycles for past many years, showed their energy and enthusiasm.
Volunteers from Greenpeace organisation were also a part of this rally. In order to reach more people, BIMTECH students were continuously interacting with the local residents, asking some interesting questions like “what does Green mean to you”. The exercise resulted into some interesting answers, especially from children.
The second event of the day was the creation of a green tree at BIMTECH campus. Students took the oath to use their resources efficiently and left their palm prints, which were also green in colour, on a college wall, displaying their spirit. On graffiti board, students also wrote their thoughts and random comments on nature, environment and its significance.

He suggested students to think out of the box with full dedication and passion. Passion should last long because if passion dies dream dies.
He talked about message of Dr, APJ Abdul kalam –youth must dream dream and dream, convert those thoughts and dreams into actions as fast as possible.
Belief in almighty and oneself will take you anywhere. He also encouraged students to read and read more for the expansion of thinking horizon. Books are the best friend of human beings and the best part is they never deceive anyone.

Mr Rakesh Malhotra shared his valuable views regarding the basic prerequisites to be an entrepreneur.” Constraints in a system lead to movement of individuals from the system and genesis of new enterprises” he said.” Future of entrepreneurship lies in sustained innovation” he added on.
In this way they expressed their thoughts among young students to encourage them to make them feel confident about themselves and their dreams. It was a great experience for everyone present there. In the end Prof. Abha Rishi gave vote of thanks to Mr.C.Singh.
The Third day of the weeklong festival ‘Aahwahan – 09′ at Birla Institute of Management Technology, was dedicated to the exploration and admiration of Innovation. In an inter-college presentation competition, ‘Eco Presenta: The Concept Presentation’, organised on Monday, the students brought to the light the processes and technologies that are eco-friendly in nature, but have not put into use yet.
Students explained about 15 such technologies, which included things like plastic fuel, remediation equipment, tappers for geo-thermal energy, tidal energy, batteries that can be recharged with water or saliva, eco-friendly fixtures etc. They presented the factors behind the discovery or invention of these technologies, the benefits they can bring to the mankind, their utility and feasibility.
The competition was evaluated on the basis of ‘how exciting the idea is’, ‘how feasible it is in present scenario’, how well was it presented by the team, followed by the performance of the team in an open question-answer round.
“Children are the future of a Nation”, a belief that has been propagated time and again by legends like Jawaharlal Nehru, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam. Aahwahan-09 stands testimony to a plethora of events ranging from debates, tree plantation drives to a Bicycle rally. All these events were dominated by power of youth.
The E-week ran into its sixth day with a gamut of activities. “Khayal”- the essay writing competition was held at BIMTECH. Besides students form BIMTECH, the competition saw active participation from students from colleges in NCR like IMJ, Army Institute of Management, Fortune Business School and Amity School of Business. The basic concept of the whole essay was in tune with the idea of E-Week, i.e. GO GREEN. It is very well said that pen is mightier than the sword. This was proven right by the students as they unleashed the spirit of free mind for the half an hour that was given to them for the write up. The topic of the essay was ‘Corporate Responsibility in making a Greener Society’.
The other event on this occasion was “Dream green” (a poster making competition). The event witnessed huge participation from young children. Children from schools like Bombay Scottish, Vishwa Vidyamandir and others across the breadth of Noida & Greater Noida expressed their thoughts in manifestation of posters. In total, eight schools participated on this eventful day. Around 270 students were a part of this historic event.
“We need to preserve the greenery around us. This will help us in creating pollution free environment” said one of the school students. This event was especially dedicated to young children and their budding ideas.
Hopefully, events like these would set a precedent in the correct direction and children would be the torch-bearers in this initiative to propel the mankind into a green era. The future belongs to them.
The response to both the events was stupendous and the event like all other events of the E-Cell was a stupendous success. The Green success story moves on.
