Frames Film Festival is an annual fest conducted by the BMM Department of SIES College, Nerul. The fest’s 17th edition will be coming up on the 9th, 10th and 11th of January, 2020. It all started way back in 2003 when the journey of India’s largest undergraduate Film Festival began.
The film festival is a great platform for the amateur film makers and actors. It has great potential as it gives them an opportunity to depict and describe their vision. The theme release for the 17th Edition happened to be on the 21st of December, 2019. Every year the festival has a theme which portrays different parts of film making which are depicted by various films . The theme this year was revealed as “Naqaab” which means Mask. The Event also had a screening of the bollywood movie “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” which is a story about a passionate traveler. This movie was enjoyed by the students of SIES as well as contingents from other colleges under a starry night.
The event started off with individual dance performances by the various committees of the festival. The dances took place to famous Bollywood numbers and the students energetically showcased their moves. There was also a special dance performance by the Chairpersons and Heads of Frames Film Festival. The evening was graced by the Principal of the college – Dr. Millind Vaidya, the Coordinator of the BMM Department- Mr. Mithun Pillai and the teaching staff, i.e, Mr. Abhishek Dandekar and Mrs. Divya Nair. The various Alumni of SIES College also made an appearance at the event.
The event was well managed by the committees of the fest which helped in the smooth conduct of Mehfilm. This event could be looked upon as the stepping stone for India’s largest undergraduate Film Festival. Since the need for good, impactful films has been increasing, the fest will take this vision ahead and the pre-event promises this. There was a display of great enthusiasm, not only from the organisers, but from the audience as well. One could see this in the way the crowd was singing and dancing along to the tracks in the film. Mark your dates- 9th, 10th and 11th January 2020 to witness an amazing experience altogether, the art and the vision of Film Making and it’s beauty by the amateurs in it’s purest form. “NAQAAB 2020”.
