Reg tax deduction, shouldn’t that be deducted from the sponsor’s side? I am not sure as I haven’t won anything in any contests…but I believe I have never heard about it from other other winners via other blogging platforms.

The contests shud specify T&C and ideally the sponsors shud bear the gift tax unless it’s given in currency.

Besides, not everybody who participated got the confirmation mail either.

There is a TDS that needs to be cut on the prizes. It is a rule by Government of India. We apologise for not having mentioned in the T&C since the brand thought it is a standard and we were not aware. The flipkart vouchers have been delayed and we have been following up for that. We promise that by the end of next week, everyone will have the vouchers in their inbox.

I have heard from one of the IPAD winners of this contest that she was charged gift tax for winning the IPAD. She was asked to pay around 7.5k. If this was one of the terms then it should have been clearly stated in the contest T&C. No one likes to be taken for a ride and when it happens to bloggers who spend their valuable time writing and entering contests, then it really saddens me. Even other bloggers who have participated have not got the Flipkart vouchers of 500/. 500 rupees is not a big amount and its not that we really need it, but when we bloggers receive appreciation for our attempts, then we feel happy.
Blogadda, as one of the premier blogger’s platform in India, I hope you take some measures to rectify this.
