  1. I have preserved the 1933 edition of CHAMBERS DICTIONARY which was used by my grandfather, then gifted to my aunt, uncle and passed on to me. My grandfather used to say with pride that he knew each word in the dictionary. My aunt did her MA in English literature. My uncle was a rank holder in Karnataka University, Dharwad in BSc., and in Bombay University in Chemical Engineering. I retired as Sr.Executive Engineer from MSEB. Dictionary plays an important role in improving one’s language and using appropriate words at the right juncture. So is the place for this book even if some of its pages are in tatters.

Another book I cherish and preserve is a collection of Sri Adi Shankara’s Stotrams (now out of print) which I picked up during my visit to ‘Kaladi’ from where he began his journey of ‘sanyaas’.

  2. My favourite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This book was gifted to me by my Mom when i was 14. (7 years ago). First of all, its a gift to me by my Mom so it will never go off the shelf. Secondly, its the dream of every girl to get married to the man of his dreams. I still relate to each and every emotions of the book and its the story of most of the girls. Who doesn’t dream of marrying their Prince Charming?
If i have to hand over this book to someone, then its going to be my daughter because its the story that i want to tell her when she grows up! The book potrays every Mom’s wish and every girl’s dream and that’s the main reason why it is so close to my heart!
    Love it ๐Ÿ™‚
