Technology is best when it brings people together and this is the ideology behind the organization of Cognizance 2015, the Annual Technical Festival of IIT Roorkee. Larsen & Toubro and IIT Roorkee in association with the Indian Express present the 13th Edition of the 3 day technical extravaganza that will take place from 27th March to 29th March and will showcase several events like professional workshops, social campaigns, exhibitions, international conferences, online events and large-scale technical, management and policy-making events.
With a theme of ‘Photonizing I’, this prestigious mega festival will showcase over 180 events, focusing on individual empowerment and channelizing the immense potential of light to enrich and invigorate individual existence to deliver the best for the society and for the country. Cognizance 2015 will see participation from more than 1,500 Technical & Management Institutes around the globe, reaching out to more than 200,000 students, professors & executives and it is safe to say that this grand festival attracts attention from every corner of the country and the world.
The festival will see Centre-Stage events encompassing several genres of case-studies, Literary Events, Coding Events, Robotics Events and CSR Events. Going further, covering all the 22 departments of IIT Roorkee, Departmental Events is quite unique to Cognizance as no other tech fest in the country organizes departmental events.
There will also be 13 workshops namely Automobile Designing, Android App Development, Cyber and Forensic Security to name a few are being organized and there are Social Initiatives too like ‘We Men For Women’ for achieving gender equality in association with the UN Women Campaign HeForShe and also, another initiative based on the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan which we like to call ‘SAAF: Scrupulous Act Against Filth’ for achieving a cleaner India.
In another stroke of uniqueness, Cognizance organised its Zonal version Expanse across 12 cities of India – Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Delhi NCR to name a few. Further, as a part of Exhibitions, the fest is organising Nao-Bot, Bio-Bot, Human Face Video Mapping, Free Feet Unicycle and the Cogni Auto Expo: Mean Mettle which will showcase various models by Audi, BMW, Volvo and Hero MotoCorp.
With Guest Lectures by Prof. CNR Rao ( Bharat Ratna Awardee, 2013), Vinita Bali (MD, Britannia Industries Ltd.), Elizabeth Nyamayaro( The woman behind UN Women’s Campaign HeForShe) and Techtainment shows by Electric Violinist Kate Chruscicka, Bollywood Night by ‘Hawan Kund’ Fame Divya Kumar and the International Pronite by the Swiss Folk Metal Band Eluveitie, Cognizance 2015 is all set to enthrall you and scale new heights on the parameters of technical fiesta and scientific temperament.
